The Wimbledon Club Squash Squared Open is a key fundraising event for Squash Squared via ticket sales and a charity auction. The tournament was held between 18th and 23rd March and received a truly world class entry which was played out to a full club TWC house.
Over 200 people attended the Opening Champagne Buffet which was a great family day and quarter finals, semi finals and final all sold out.
The event was great inspiration for our juniors and spectators got to see squash of the highest calibre. The event did not go according to seedings. World number 15 Daryl Selby topped the draw and former world number one James Willstrop were scheduled to meet in the final. However 5th seed Mathieu Castagnet played some of the best squash of his career and dispatched James in the semi and Tom Richards in the final to take the 3rd TWC Squash Squared Open along with $7,000 prize money.
The Presentation Dinner and service was superb thanks to Anthony and Paulo’s team and the auction was a huge success, big thank you here to Lee Davies at Tradition.
This was the largest PSA event to date and would not have been possible without our members and sponsors. I am extremely grateful in particular to primary sponsors Mercer Taylor and Pelham Smithers Associates.
Nick Healy carried out our streaming, was very professional and would thoroughly recommend him, thank you for the footage Nick.
